John Daniels

For over 25 years John Daniels has worked as a commercial photographer with a passion and reputation for wildlife and animal work.
His photographs have been published worldwide and his passion for wildlife, particularly birds, has taken him all over the world gathering material for the 20,000 plus images he has with picture agencies, including  Ardea.
His consideration and empathy for his chosen subject has given him a wealth of knowledge and he considers himself to be sensitive to the subjects he photographs. His vast experience and proven track record as one of the UK’s most published photographers enables him to pass on his knowledge of both camera work and bird photography to students of all abilities.

Choose a Course to Suit You

All courses are on a one-to-one basis or two people sharing in one of two locations. Prices shown are for a maximum 2 people. Courses in Surrey are for one person only to ensure best wildlife observation. Depending on the course you choose, you will be able to cover all aspects of bird photography from an expert who has made a living from photographing birds and wildlife. Learn the tricks of the trade as well as the technical aspects. All courses include lunch and refreshments during the day. Multi- day courses in Wales (only) include accommodation and evening meals. One Day Course

  • For Beginners upwards
  • 9am to 5pm
  • Aimed at those people interested in birds and who wish to improve their bird photography skills.
  • Covers the use of hide and bait, equipment to use for the best results, computer work flow and lots of practical advice including welfare of the subjects.
  • An excellent start-up course as well as a refresher course to produce exciting results.
  • Lunch provided

Two Day Course

  • Advanced Course
  • 9am to 5pm daily
  • Designed for the more serious photographer who wants to get the best images.
  • More in depth tuition than the 1 day course, tailored to your abilities and concentrating on the areas that you wish to improve.
  • May include visits to centres such as the Red Kite Feeding Station
  • Includes evening meal on day 1 (Wales only)
  • From £385 per person Prices shown on the booking form

Three Day Course

  • Advanced Course

Bird Cottage, Mid Wales

Residential. Lunch & refreshments provided.
Delightful location in the heart of Red Kite country. A pretty secluded cottage set in the hillside with a running stream, Bird cottage offers 4 Star en-suite accommodation so photographers enjoy both comfort and style.Abundant bird life in and around the cottage garden provides much of the subject matter with  nearby sites, lakes and the Red Kite Feeding Centre providing the rest!

Surrey

Bird Studio, Dunsfold

Non-residential. Lunch & refreshments provided..
The house and gardens at Dunsfold are  set in the Surrey countryside, convenient to Guildford and the South East. The mature gardens adjoin woodlands and a well established array of birds and wildlife visit.The pond provides access to interesting  photographic opportunities and the on-site studio offers alternative photo work if required.
Guests are able to visit on a daily basis or stay at one of the many hotels/B&Bs nearby. Under John’s guidance  and expertise you will achieve great results
